MusicCounts! is a non-profit organization comprised entirely of volunteers.  It's a small group that has a big impact - raising then deciding how ~$20,000 is spent each year for performing arts!

Whether you have a student in the Canton Public Schools or not, we'd love to have you to join us!
W H A T
We plan and run Cantonstock,  a fun one-day music festival in early November that features all music groups from all the Canton Public Schools.  It has raffles, silent auction, games, concessions, a fabulous program book and more!  This is our only major fundraiser.

During the school year!
  • Sept, Oct, Nov: Plan for Cantonstock
  • Nov (First Sat): Run Cantonstock
  • Dec - June:  Meet monthly (1 hour tops) with CPS Performing Arts Staff to received requests and vote on funding them!

Very simply, our team raises money to fund requests from the Canton Public Schools Performing Arts Department that we review and vote on at our meetings each month.  We want to make sure the dollars we allocate benefit as many students as possible, cover a wide range of needs, and all schools are represented.

For full transparency,  the graphs below show what we have approved for spending for the past 3 years!

Your donations at work

Over the past twenty years MusicCounts! has worked hard to put donation to good use. Funding requests are proposed though the Canton Public School's music program head, and are voted on by board members at our scheduled meetings. Some of the items and services we have approved over the two years are:

  • Accompanist fees
  • Festival Funding (districts, SEMSBA, allstate)
  • Piano Tuning
  • Scholarships for lessons
  • Music software for kids
  • Pre-K instruments
  • Buses for shows
  • Timpani
  • Buses for Statehouse field trip
  • Musician Clinics
  • Professional development for music teachers
  • Professional concerts for students
  • Tuba
  • Violas
  • Euphonium
  • Basses

None of which would be possible without the support of our local community and businesses.

Thank you.
